I notice most links seem to be only or mainly to the index page of a site and am wondering if this is a better strategy with regards search engines rather than pointing inbound links to individual pages.

We have a site with a lot of external deep linking, but somehow I feel perhaps directing all links to the front page may have been a better plan.
