If you don't want to go the portable apps route( I like portable apps too ;)..Download and run this "appcrashview" [nirsoft.net...]
might shed some light for you ..may well tell you why FF 16 is crashing on install..
Probably worth most people taking a look around Nirsoft ( if they don't know it already ) lots of very useful free ( and very well coded ) things in there..
If you are setting up a new box..and are "into" portable apps ..you can also look at [cameyo.com...] ..freeware application virtualization..even works on win 7 64 and win 8.."roll your own" portable apps..:)
