The memory / crash problem may have been removed in FF V15 which came out today. It seems to work faster here (linux, UK) on ordinary accesses and posts but I hardly ever use flash so I can't comment on that.

BBC made a big mistake, in my opinion, in forcing flash on people. Especially as adobe are reining back on viable platforms for flash (eg linux, google play), which in turn is encouraging users to get alternative (mostly virus-trapped) flash players.
