Just got a notification that Firefox 7.0 Beta is now available. Sheesh.
I realize that I posted this news back in April, but I'm surprised that anyone is surprised by the pace....
Mozilla Switches Firefox to 18-Week Development Cycle
Firefox 5 Expected June 21
I'm concerned in an open development system, though, where we all rely on Addons, that we're going to have some important Addons/Plug-Ins/Extensions either falling by the wayside or dropping out because the developers can't or won't keep up.
And it's getting to be a pain to check the currency status of every single Addon before I update. At the moment, I remember that most updated Addons from the last round indicated they'd be OK through v6, which means that FF is probably not breaking compatibility with every upgrade.
And the interface... I still find myself occasionally looking for the "home" icon with this version. Anyway, is v6 OK, or should I wait for the tweaks? Or, is v6 really just v5.01? ;)
