Many problems with Firefox can be cured by doing a clean install -- That is, download the installer for the new version, uninstall the old version, then install the new version. Bookmarks, add-ons, and most customizations *will* be preserved unless you use the uninstall option to "completely remove directories." In many cases, the problem is a left-over from installing Firefox/2.x on top of Firefox/1.x or installing Firefox/3.x over Firefox/2.x, either manually, or using the "auto-update" function. In other cases, the trouble has to do with incompatible add-ons that somehow slipped through the "add-on compatibility check" -- either recently or in the past. Starting Firefox in "Safe Mode" (i.e. without any add-ons) is a good way to see if this is the cause of the trouble. The "Safe Mode" option is available in the Windows Start menu (see Mozilla Firefox folder), or via command line option in *nix-based systems. Jim
