Wasn't Opera working with Mozilla to standardize browser extensions? I can't seem to find the reference now.
Yes, the extensions on FireFox have been one of the major reasons Opera is still the better product in this space. Problems with installing and uninstalling those extensions has been the source of a lot of problems.
