---- Opera 8 Released
troels_nybo_nielsen - 7:06 am on Apr 10, 2005 (gmt 0)How much will the final version actually differ from the last beta? What will the reactions be from those people who only know earlier versions and have not seen the beta? Opera 8 is somewhat different which may mean that it appeals to some users who did not like Opera before. How much buzz will there be about Opera 8? And which impact will the existence of Firefox 1 have? Has Firefox broken the ice so that many more people now will be open to the thought of a non-Microsoft browser and will this benefit Opera 8? Or does the focusing on Firefox mean that Opera will not be able to get out of its shadow?
Matt, you need to remember that the very same set of banal facts may often look completely different for two persons depending on their individual viewpoints. Ms. Joyce obviously writes for a readership that is very much aware of the existence of Firefox but may have overlooked Opera. And the word "free" seems to have been a mantra in the buzz about Firefox in the last few months. Her atttitude is rather unsurprising.
Some questions that I ask myself right now:
