---- Anyone thinking about programming for Opera Widgets?

Good question! Opera Widgets have seen a lot of interest since the 9.0 launch - there are already hundreds available from the Widgets site:

[widgets.opera.com...]

Looking through the available widgets, quite a few sites have started their own widgets. I reckon that if you have a site with a reasonably technical audience (who are more likely to use Opera) as well as having frequently-changing content, then a widget could be a great resource and promotional tool.

One thing I like about widgets over Firefox extensions is that they simply use HTML, CSS and Javascript, with a bit of XML thrown in. This is much easier from a web developer perspective as there is no need to learn a new language (like XUL for Firefox extensions).

There is some excellent documentation here:

So, has anyone tried building a widget yet?
