SOLVED IT.

I needed to

1. Go to chromes tools (Wrench)
2. Options
3. Under the hood
4. Content settings
5. Pop Ups
6. Manage exceptions
7. Add my joomla site to the exceptions.

Now the selection window work just spiffily.
