It does take forever to load. Even on DSL it took about 10 seconds to render. I realize that once cached that speeds up.
I just went and had another look at SPAW. The demo actually turns out nice HTML - <p> instead of <br>, tags matched, closed and nested properly, lists come out correctly. It's pretty nice. I might have to change my mind.
