I wear reading glasses (over my contacts) to see the screen. When I'm not wearing my contacts, I have a special pair of glasses for computer work, in which the whole lens uses my reading prescription, instead of bifocals. If you want to teach, or do other non-staring-at-the-monitor things, by all means, go for it. But don't let a little nearsightedness get in the way of your plans.
Myopia doesn't stop you from working on a computer. I have both severe myopia, plus presbyopia (middle-aged eyes), and I'm on the computer all day long.
