I was also thinking about this last night, as I was working on the DHTML content for this site.

display:none is used EVERYWHERE. It's the secret sauce behind a lot of JS flyout menus, and many DHTML techniques rely upon it.

I don't see how it could be a useful consideration in PR calculations.
