I'm planning a test to move a database of approx.1 million records from an Oracle XE 10.1 server to a MariaDB server on Debian 6.
I myself have no experience with Oracle, since for many years I'm a MariaDB kinda guy (used to be MySQL). I've managed to install an Oracle XE some time ago, just to see how it is done, but no more than that.
The Oracle admin sent me a 150 Mb binary dump (.dmp) which includes all SQL CREATE statements and I have been told that it ought to work fairly easily.
However, I have so far not found any guidelines how to go about this.
Anyone got a short tutorial for me? Would be much appreciated :)
