My content is very diverse and Google's targeting seemed always to focus on just one aspect, when many more were available. Yahoo seems to be more robust and freewheeling. I've often wondered why ads had to be "tightly targeted" when most of my audience is probably - like many people - interested in all kinds of things. I mean, I used to run some newspapers and we never had exact targeting. Some bars (those which catered to a more professional crowd) wanted to be on the editorial pages, while others went for the sports section. Some just wanted page position, so I see Yahoo being a little less rigid a good thing for newsy sites and less focused people and sites, like me. I'll be honest - even in my most passionate areas of expertise, I often get burnt out or bored and have a need to move into another area. I guess that's why my site will forever be in flux. Just some thoughts...
I was accepted into the YPN beta yesterday and am adding pages today. I am very happy with the targetting which seems to be better than Google's, especially on pages where I have italicized or bold type, Y is picking it up nicely and delivering relevant ads.
