I noticed something recently too. Had a horrible September with both Adsense and YPN. But YPN seems to have picked up in October.

I recently purchased a set of "Adsense sites" and decided to put up a second copy on another domain with YPN ads - surprise, the Ad targetting kicked in right away and was showing relevant ads for each topic. YAY!
