Well I have somewhat related tech site is mostly software but i do have a forum where we discuss some tech issues, and here my expirience so far.

The ads are not close to relevant if you don't have ads targetting, which is what I recommend you should use the ads targetting feature by yahoo and you will get some ads that are close to your niche. you will see your earnigs will make you real happy even with a lower click rate you should be earning 4 times as much from lets say adsense by comparison.
