This is more or less beginning to drive me crazy... Windows Update is repeatedly offering same updates... KB2518864 and KB2572073 and KB2633880. After I think I've installed them, they're offered again.
I've searched the MS Windows support forums, which have discussions on problems that are similar but not exactly the same... have run MicrosoftFixit.wu.RNP.81261109611479376.2.1.Run.exe diagnostic which shows no problems, and I then search the forums for similar problems. There's a history that has apparently never been sorted out.
Procedure seems to be that they present you with a list of about 20 KBupdate numbers, you check these against what's on your add-remove programs (easily a one-hour project as nothing is in order and there are 3 different places where you might find the files), and you then answer an incredibly long list of questions, most of which you're going to be guessing on... they make nasty comments about your software and ask specific questions about what you remember about the installation of a bunch of KB2612345 updates, which of course you've committed to memory, you try to give feedback but their sign-in process doesn't work, and you then are told to uninstall and reinstall roughly a dozen programs. No one gets this to work, and finally you find a thread where someone jumps in and says he never could get this to work and suggests his own procedure (of uninstalling and reinstallng everything).
So I'm back to my "never uprade" motto... all the while the upgrade shield on my taskbar is trying to send my system into an endless loop. Explitives deleted.
Any thoughts? There's got to be a better way.
