Dell inspirion 6000 laptop with windows xp os

I am trying to f ind what directory the ethernet controller driver is stored in on the c drive to connect my computer to the internet after a virus. Computer is otherwise working normally with the exception of not being able to connect to the internet. I have wireless capacity with the laptop, but it is not working. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.
