I know what you are referring to, but if there is any way to change it's appearance it is beyond me. Microsoft support site seemingly has two options ...
Due to the size of the grid, you are limited in how many items display -
you'll need to use a daily view to see more.
Change your Resolution setting in the Control Panel.
Obviously option 2 is going to change the resolution for everything, desktop, other applications, etc. Not really an option. I tend to use the "Work Week" view most often and that way I can see appointments for each day and throughout that week. Then change to calendar view when you need to see the bigger picture. I know I didn't answer your question, or perhaps I did ... it doesn't seem like there is no view currently in Outlook to meet your desire.
