iPlayer is the BBC torrent service? I can't use that service from Japan, so I couldn't test it out for you. If it runs like other torrent services it may have been simply seeding or leaching an increased number of files. You may not have set limits on its bandwidth usage and it simply exponentially increased in usage as you increased your collection. I'm just guessing though.
