Nothing suprising in this - Microsoft does not like to talk about it but they have to support key OS releases for a long time - otherwise they simply would not sell their stuff to some of the big customers. WinXP is the most successful OS they made, they will have to produce security patches even if just 10% of computers use it, something that will remain the case for a long time.
