I'd have to believe that those who can't see a use for an iPad / tablet simply haven't tried one.

I know the point I'm trying to make is that I'm doubtful that the iPad has single-handily crushed all other notebook sales.

I tried the iPad for about a day, and know several people that own one. These guys are Apple Fanboys and they don't like the iPad. It's too big and heavy. I was going to buy one until I used it. When Jobs started talking about the iPhone problem, that sealed the deal - no Apples in my home.

Personally, I cannot wait until these manufacturers deliver a product I'm looking for - which will be about half the size and weight of the iPad. I've seen several talked about in the news, just not for sale yet. When they are, I'm buying one. (But I'm still putting a SSD in my laptop too.)
