Thanks SEOMike, I might try that. I've been hesitant to invest in new hardware (ie: external wifi antennae) because I'm using a nonstandard wifi card. Even though I bought what I thought was a top-of-the-line laptop with "Intel Centrino Mobile Technology", I find it gets worse reception than my friends' with Dells! It's a 2200BG wireless card, but the standard is apparently 802.11, so most wifi boosters apparently aren't compatible with it. This whole thing is pretty frustrating.
