---- Are companies planning to lower dot pitch size?

So I was wondering if companies are planning to lower the size of "pixel pitches" of lcd monitors

Every pixel on an LCD needs several transistors to address it and turn it on and off. Reducing the pixel size by say 30% increases the the number of connections, transistors and associated compenents by a massive factor!

So will they increase the number of pixels, almost certainly! Someone will steal the lead and the rest will follow.

The real question is whether LCD will be the best technology in a couple of years:

Canon have SED which is a thin (less than 2") CRT with fantastic picture quality.

Philips are playing with organic materials (from deep sea fish) which glow when current is passed through them.
