I already have a fairly decent setup. There's only a few things I'd like to add.

I havea large l-shaped desk with the keyboard tray in the center, which I love. There's more than enough room for me to stack stuff on it and the corner piece is big enough for me to work on in front of the 'puter if I want to write something by hand. It has a hutch filled with reference books, inboxes full of scratch paper and printer paper, phone book, rolodex, mailing envelopes, blank cds and my "read and review file". Elsewhere on the desk are my cd player, my "books to review" box (I write reviews), a laser printer, my tickler file, laptop, Axim X50v, Dymo label printer and a basket full of little notepads for jotting notes. Garbage can and recycle bin under the desk.

My chair is a reasonably comfy "ergonomic" chair from Staples. There's a Megamouse pad strapped to right arm. This plus my track ball have been the biggest help in relieving back, neck and shoulder pain for me.

To my left is a large shelving unit that I built. It holds all my binders, notebooks, current projects, software installation disks and manuals, etc. I also keep my personal financial filing here: I just drop bills into a clear plastic storage box after paying. At the end of the year I pull everything out and put it in a file jacket and file it away. Business files are arranged a little differently, but not much. There's little set of drawers here that holds frequently, but not constantly, used office supplies...stapler, 3-hole punch, tape, highlighters, chapstick.

To the left of the shelves is a tall Sterilite drawer tower that holds all of my office supplies...extra tape, pens, labels, checkbooks, business cards, paperclips, rubberbands, etc. as well as all of my extra computer cables.

Directly behind me is another desk with a second computer on it. The phone and dsl modem live here.

There's also a 2 drawer file cabinet with my inbox on top.

Lessee, what else.... I keep the laptop and the desktop coordinated with FileSync. The Pocket PC and laptop talk with ActiveSync.

I tack poster board on the walls and write on that.

Larger room (little crowded in here as the kids' toys are also stored on the fourth wall)

Large cinerama display monitor...over 40" would be nice.

Flat file.

Better book storage...my fantasy is custom-made bookcases...short, two shelf cases on large casters with a handle on one end. I could store my books by subject and then file the bookcase rather like books in a bookcase. Then I'd just pull the relevant one near my desk...I'd have one for books to read and review, on for field guides, one for family history, etc...
