Greetings everyone. I've just discovered your wonderful community and am happy to join. Hopefully I will have some knowledge and experience to share with some of the members here and be of use.
I have created a custom community/forum with custom code base. It's similar very similar to reddit.com but lets just say it's a custom forum were user's have the ability to create their own categories.
I have Google Analytics installed and it shows me that since launch, I have had 800 unique visitors visit my site.
Out of these 800 unique visitors:
30 have registered
2 have created a post (1 each)
5 have commented (2-4 comments each)
I am wondering if some of you experienced folk can share your numbers with me and let me know, is this a horrible rate of involvement or not? Should I be thinking about strategies to get users more involved or are my unique visitor numbers too low and I should be advertising more?
I hope you can share a bit of your experience and give me an idea of what my expectations should be on a custom forum. Just a note, there is no central subject on this forum, categories can be anything and there are some default ones set up.
Thank you!
