I used to view Facebook as a community competitor, and nuked all FB links, etc. As they became ubiquitous, though, they became more like infrastructure. My community members were all on Facebook anyway, and by doing more with integration now FB is a major traffic source. Be sure to enable traffic drivers like sharing on FB for actions like joining, posting a new thread, etc.
