This is going to be quite difficult to explain but every post I have seen in here had been so well answered I am going to give it a go. This is not an ad for my site but I need you to look at the structure in order to advise me as it is totally custom built.
I run a site that is designed to connect users based on their interests and we cover basically all interests. When a member signs up they get a menu to the left where they can filter these to find what may interest them.
The discussions are currently held in interest groups that users can set up themselves so the structure may look like this.
SPORT: CRICKET: CRICKET LOVERS: "DISCUSSION"
After reading a load of sites and posts on how to develop a forum, we may have gone down the wrong road here by making the groups. This is because in CRICKET LOVERS we may end up with loads of small groups with few members. This would make browzing the cricket related discussions very difficult.
Would I be better dropping groups entirely and just making all discussions live in the subcategoreis?
I hope this makes sense. Its a toughie to explain.
