Facebook is deperate to demonstrate they can make a lot of money, but they're upsetting users in the process. This demonstrates how difficult it is to monetize a social network.
Perhaps they should consider doing something offline. It's what folks like WebmasterWorld and SES do right? Take the online community, translate it into offline and add value through conferences? And the conferences probably also feed the online community.
Facebook should have local meetups or something :).
