I think you are worrying about nothing ..what I mean is I dont think that your employer would get any response from google on this matter if they contacted ..your employer doesnt control your gmail account ..nor your access to it ..nor your use of it ..

if you are worried about losing your stored mail ..copy it to your HD or whatever and then get back ( if you can't open another account at gmail ..some of ..most of us ..I imagine ..have by now hundreds of invites waiting to be sent ....) ...
