Hey, I talked to a Gmail person about the issue with some new users, as well as a small number of
current users as they tried to log in. This problem has now been fixed, although a few users may continue to experience some problems for the next day or so. For anyone who experienced problems during account registration, their account should have been created with their desired username and password, and there should be no need to use an additional invite to create a new account. They should go to [gmail.google.com...] and login using the username and password that they selected. If they
still cannot log in, the best thing to do for now is to have the person who invited them contact our support team from within their Gmail interface.
