---- A Game Plan For Marketing/Promotion

Hi all, I hope your world is sliding in greased grooves today.

I have recently completed (if there is such a thing in web development) my first real commercial site building project and I, (and more importantly the client), am pleased with the results to date. I have optomized the site with "meta" information, page titles, alt tags, anchor text, etc., and I have submitted the site url to Google, Yahoo and some directories. And I'm pleased to say that while this site in it's old form (created by someone else) didn't show up practically at all on Google, now it's coming up on the first page of returns for some search phrases (one popular phrase it's actually #1) and the second page for others.

I'm aware of linking and developing reciprocal links and some of the more common promotional strategies.

But as I have always gotten great responses and good, solid information here (as opposed to other "webmaster" forums) I wanted to ask your indulgence in forming a game plan of sorts toward a more complete, comprehensive marketing/promotion strategy for this site. It is in a niche market and while the best thing would be to list the url here, I hesitate to do so for various reasons. By comparison this site, using alot of the information I have found here is way ahead of competing businesses but I want it, to borrow a phrase, to "be the best it can be" so my client can see maximum results which can be nothing but good for me.

So what I'm asking for is an outline, an overview of the best, most effective strategies for getting more prospects to this site. My client's concern is that a traditional "off season" become more productive for his business. And before I prevail upon the client for expenditures such a pay for click, adwords, etc., I want to be sure I have done what I can do to utilize the most effective non-paid methods.

I believe in doing the research and leg work needed and I am definately not asking to be show step by step (although such a thing would not be ignored) what I should do, just for guidance in being more effective toward the aforementioned goals.

I know this is a somewhat general request in nature but just one suggestion, one targeted strategy can make a huge difference to me.

If any of you are so inclined please PM me (either here or ICQ) or mail me and I would be happy to go into more detail about the site, the url or any other information that would help make this more clear to you.

And be assured, any advice, time and knowledge you share will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ken

ps I hope this is the most appropriate forum for this post, if not, please relocate.
