With as many CMS's as there are out there, you should really give that a go. This is what most site owners are doing these days, it's seldom about static site files any more.
Once you get it installed (or, you can pay someone to do that and take over from there) there's no dealing with software or FTP. No worrying about messing up the page with an invalid html tag, you focus your efforts on the content. Some common examples are Wordpress, modX, Drupal . . . there are hundreds.
