I don't think that would be a problem (at least, I can think of legitimate reasons why it shouldn't be), and I know a lot of systems that are setup that way. The most common problem that I run into in this regard is that there is no PTR record, so no reverse DNS is possible.. and some mail servers will reject mail based on this. I can't believe there are some rather major ISPs out there that don't, by default, reverse-resolve their IP addresses to at least something.
<When you say "bad PTR's"... do you mean that the PTR should contain the domain name of the the domain in the FROM: field?>
