Yeah I have also gotten mixed random results from site match. I've submitted 4 sites to them already. 3 of them have been spidered, one is ranked nicely, one is still in "pending" mode. I used overture to submit all my sites. Perhaps it's luck of the draw and which editor you get?

As a positive, I do like the "search terms" feature. But I guess that's a moot point if you don't have anything ranked/getting clicks. :-)
