If you have .co.uk and .com point to the identical domain space with the same content, you should not get penalised for duplicate content. Google, for example, will drop the .com and replace it with a local domain name, if they point to the same place. The duplicate page problem occurs when they are hosted separately.
AltaVista.co.uk only shows .uk domain names (last time I looked) unless you subscribe to their paid service.
