Here's a pretty good recent discussion [webmasterworld.com] on Ink factors. In message 9 DaveAtIFG states that "testing indicates that INK completely ignores keyword metas and alt tags."

It's always been assumed that incoming links matter at Ink, but as you'll see as you read through the thread there is some disagreement.
