Today, we’re taking a first step toward that goal with some free tools and resources.

New business terms

We now have two sets of terms—one for people and one for businesses. The business terms help guide businesses on how to use Pinterest. They also enable us to separate the provisions meant for businesses from those meant for regular people. As a result, we updated our user terms to be half as long. We also took the opportunity to simplify the language as much as possible. Unfortunately, terms of use are one of those documents that requires a certain amount of legalese, so we’ve offered “translations” of these sections, too.Pinterest Adds Business Accounts [blog.pinterest.com]
Whether you’re a publication, brand, designer, blogger, retailer, online merchant, non-profit organization, institution, or local business, we’d like to get to know you better so that we can provide the right tools and support to help you inspire people on Pinterest. If your organization is new to Pinterest, sign up on our Pinterest for Business site. Existing accounts on Pinterest can be easily converted by following the steps on the business site.

My guess is that, after offering it for free for a while, they will charge a fee for business accounts. This would enable them to generate some income.

I'm surprised it has taken them so long to announce it.

Does that mean business accounts will have their wrists slapped with less force than personal accounts for copyright violations?

Wondering if this was sarcastic or not.

Even less - is that possible at all ?

Switched to business account, it gives you a nice link on top of your Pinterest page and not much else.

Of course. I didn't expect them to announce the negative sides of a business account before a lot of users switch. Business = Money. Thus, I expect that within a while business accounts will no longer be free of charge.

I have an account on Pinterest but I'm not real excited about splitting it in two as some of my Pins are business related and the others are more personal interests -- the same thing happened with Facebook -- some of my business postings ending up on my personal page. I checked out their "best practices" page to find more info and it's all messed up in Win 7, IE 8. The left menu hides the content in a 15" laptop. Doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in switching anything at this time.
