How to strike a decent balance between our own and other sources?

An interesting requirement is the need to strike a good balance between our own sources and 3rd party resources to stay objective (as is the need of every such site like Squidoo).

As compared to the text based sites, it is not always possible to get good quality images from government type sites (where there is no conflict of interest) and we won't like to be seen pinning poor images and videos.

How do you juggle this? What is a good ratio for owned and 3rd party sources?
