Blocking mass downloaders of ecommerce site
How do we block copycats, hackers, scum...

Hello,

We would like to write an automated script (or use htaccess) to block competitors, hackers, copycats and general scum from downloading the entire content of our ecommerce website. We spend a lot of effort in creating good content and we don't want anybody mass downloading it for their own use.

What would be the best way to do this without risking blocking legitimate visitors and legitimate SE bots? Is there a ready script out there? Should we put a cap on bandwidth per day per IP? Whats the best method? I'm sure someone already wrote a whole book about this topic - whats the bottom line?

Thanks!

Also search for "honeypot" for other scripts which might be of use.
