Finally took the plunge and updated to IOS6. The map app is horrible. It thinks I live a mile East of here. The functionality and interface is sub par as well.

BBC are carrying the sory, with a comparison of the two services Apple maps , and Google maps... For UK areas that I know very very well.. [bbc.com...] Oh dear, Apple really let this one out of the gate only half finished..

Huh. Far as I can tell, it's got me living in the exact same location in the exact same parking lot across the exact same street* as before. * Just a few days ago I was reading the New Yorker in a waiting room. One correspondent got absolutely livid about the use of "exact same". I mean, of all the things to get worked up about...

The maps of Japan are totally unusable. A co-worker updated his phone and I was shocked at the poor quality, lack of information and general mistakes. They partnered with one of the better known mapping companies, but still ended up with sub-standard maps. I'm sticking with iOS5 until Google releases a proper Maps app.
