So there was an issue with the phone system yesterday at a client's office (supposedly, the people who are moving into the office next door happened to cut the T1 to the client's office, which happens to be routed through their junction box, but that's another story). As a result, we had no Internet, phones, or fax service yesterday. As it turns out, around 4 in the morning, the phone service automatically started forwarding all the incoming calls to the fallback number they had on file. Which just happened to be the cell phone for the company owner.

Not sure if that included the fax lines as well.

But I happened to start wondering if there were any apps available to let an iPhone directly accept a incoming fax. I did a quick search and found apps for outgoing faxes or accepting faxes through a 3rd party fax service. But I didn't find anything that would let you turn you iPhone into a temporary fax machine.

Just curious if there is some technical block preventing this. I can imagine other people who might need an app like this every once in a while and would rather pay a few bucks for an app instead of paying a lot more for a monthly service that they would only use a few times a year.
