| Opera keeps uninstalling and re-installing itself!

So, I was using Opera yesterday no problem. Today I clicks the shortcut and I get a message saying 'Please wait while windows is preparing to install Opera 10.5xx..'. It then removes itself and re-installs. This has only been happening since v10 and its happened several times now.
Its not a virus before anyone asks. And it`s never happened with any other program in the 15years or more I`ve had a laptop. Which makes Opera unique, yippee.
Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

I've got Opera as my default browser and I did have something similar during the recent 10.52 update. However, I believe it was my fault as I must have clicked on a link in another program and the upgrade/install was interrupted. I had to cycle things a few times to get it right, but eventually things were sorted.

As with all browser-upgrade problems, it's often a good idea to uninstall the old version and then install the new. Unless you select a checkbox to remove all personalizations (history, bookmarks, passwords, filters, settings, etc.) as well, most browsers will preserve them.
In fact, that can also be a problem if one of the personalization files has been corrupted. The solution if this happens is to either install to a different browser 'user' or to go find the personalization files, and then either back them up and delete the originals, or move them to some place safe. Then do a totally-clean install, make back-ups of the new/clean personalization files as well, and then copy your previous personalization files back one-by-one, watching at each step to be sure trouble does not re-appear.
Interrupted installs can have very weird results, indeed...
