which opera have you installed ? second ..the flash file that you download to install flash is small ( but unless it's the standalone ) it then "calls" another larger file from adobe to do the install ..and adobe do have some of the slowest servers ( or most congested )on the net ..try downloading a TBYB just after they release a new iteration of photoshop ..you could translate war and peace before it says it's finished ~:o welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

Ok .I've got the same 9.64 and it's very very fast.. for this session I'm on "self stripped" xp pro sp3 ( ms checked approved and tested wga and all the sign offs )..w32 amd athlon ( brisbane )2.1 and 4 gigs ram ..dsl pipe 6 megs down 2.2 megs up and have currently two instances of opera running with 104 tabs open in total ..and it's fast :) try downloading something else .. ( not a torrent )..and watch your transfer speeds .. say what you get ( on average ).. someone will chime in ..( lots of people use opera to surf and FF to dev ) i'm cooking late late dinner ..like every friday ..later ,maybe if you dont get it sorted ..

Was there an older version of Opera on the computer? I had speed issues at I attributed to not uninstalling the previous version of Opera.

LEO i understood a small amount of what you said lol I am not that up on computers just visiting sites keeping upto date on news etc and playing games. guess i should learn as am sure some of the trash microsoft preinstall could be removed to help speed things up. this one has had the restart discs used so much I am wearing them out. all i tend to do is download trials of the new games and see if worth buying for my playstation or wii or whatever. my wife enters lots of online competitions and does surveys etc and gets around 50 spam a day from it but has the know how not to open them when we lived in usa we had aol so managed to download aol to run off our connection and sign in with old username so keep intouch with old friends etc through that. and now all internet trafic is only going through opera we are stuck with it unless i uninstall it and try again but sick of downloading now its a clean start. just did speed test on connection download 6270 kbps upload 370 kbps so am sure you will know if thats any good or not. just know i am on bt internet option 3
