Want to create a permission so hidden links cannot be inserted

I have this site where I get hidden spam links at the bottom of each page (I can see it when I view the source code). Its the same on each page and I can remove it by logging into the cPanal and entering the index.php where the links are located right at the bottom.

The site is on Wordpress. Does anyone know how I can put permission to block this from happening? I am sure the loophole they are managing to exploit is via the comments section.

I will update to the newest Wordpress as my current one is several versions old, however, in the meantime can I put permission in the index.php file that would stop these links appearing?

Thanks

Your safest option is to upgrade to the newest version, and upgrade when ever a new version becomes available. Regarding setting permisions, is it not a case of the content being read from the database, as opposed to the footer being writen to?

Upgraded to the latest version of Wordpress several days ago and yet everyday I get links appearing once a day and in some cases twice. I then log into the cpanel and remove it from index.php.

I think I will let my host know about it.

Why are you using cpanel to administer Wordpress? Are you talking about its file browser or something different?

It may be your host thats infected?

Mack.
