Pls how do i build a classified website

I am a newbie in webdevelopment and I am tryint to build a classified website where people can post classified adds.Pls I dont have any idea on how to go about this.Is there a software that I can use or can anyone pls help me with the scripts.

I believe there is free software available. You can check some well known scripts download sites (just be careful), and also check what's available in Fantastico that's part of Cpanel installations.

This is the one that's included with Cpanel/Fantastico - free.

Marcia was pointing out that the script can be installed for free if your host uses cPanel. Most do.

There are hosted services available as well.

I tried this on a niche, locality based site, with only partial success. It was supposed to be a totally focused on the site's topic and locality but I was forever deleting off topic and out of area ads (usually both). In the end it was too much work and never achieved a critical mass to be a useful service so I dropped it.
