I want to learn PHP programming, but I am an absolute beginner. I know HTML only. Can someone suggest me a book or a site where I can learn PHP? Thanks.

Hey ssqp, the PHP Forum Library [webmasterworld.com] here at WebmasterWorld has a thread titled Learning PHP - Books, Tutorials and Online Resources [webmasterworld.com]that may be of interest to you.

I'm a book learner myself. I got this book back in 04' and found it to be very helpful. It's still in print.

"PHP 5 / MySQL Programming for the Absolute Beginner"

"PHP Cookbook (Cookbooks (O'Reilly))" is another great title once you start developing with PHP. It's more a reference/food for thought than a textbook, though.

When you choose a book, make sure it covers PHP 5 which is the latest production version.
