i getting an FTP error trying to get to my site. it will let me log in fine but when i got to view -open ftp in windows explorer i get an error. i trying going to different forums and some suggestion going to internet options - advance and either uncheck or check the passive and some other options. i tried that i didnt work. i tried taking the firewall down...that didnt work. i even tried to do filezilla and that didnt work. i know it has something to do with IE7 but not sure how to fix it. im working on my laptop thats Vista. but this works fine on my PC which is Vista aswell....

Any help would be great. im at my wits end.... oh i even went to microsoft site and went to help and support. and it said to add an update for the issue....then go to regedit and do somethings. but my computer is saying i already have that certain update but when i go to regedit and follow the path they want....i dont see the FEATURE_WININET_FTP_FOLDER_VIEW_KB939653

To be honest I think you are best sticking with an FTP client. Using a browser is one way of doing it, but the software wasn't designed exclusively for FTP use. An FTP client on the other hand has been designed from the ground up to do just that, FTP and nothing else. If you use a client and still have issues, the best option would be to contact your web host and ask then to make sure all configurations are set correctly at their end.
