Hi I am a newbie so I wonder if this is the right page to post this?

I have a internet retail site and it was sitting on the first search page for a few months. Last week I checked the site and it had gone to the 13th page and now its sitting on the 18th page. It is still on the first page of Yahoo. The site has a ranking of 2 and there are heaps of sites sitting above it with no ranking at all.

I have been adding new content, products etc and metatags etc. I am no expert and did not build the site myself.

Any insight on what might be wrong would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Is the site an affiliate site?

Is the new content unique - or dropped in from the central site?

How old is the site?

Are you following guidelines on link policy?

Are you following the google webmaster guidelines? Does somebody steal your content/frame your site (check by googling your content)? Did you make any fundamental changes to your site?

Rankings are dynamic, so in any case you shouldn't panic.
