I heard that you need to create a sitemap.xml to submit to google. I have now created one but what do I do with it now? how do I submit this file to google?

i'm sure you'll find this in the google doc, but you keep your sitemap.xml file in the root directory.

thanks guys, I have now put my sitemap in my directory with my index page so now do I have to link it together or can I just go and submit it as www.mysite.com/sitemap.xml? rj87uk msg:3277116 11:01 pm on Mar 9, 2007 (gmt 0)
Upload your site map to your root directory like such: www.mysite.com/sitemap.xml
Log into Google Webmaster Tools.
Click on the sitemaps tab. Click add a Sitemap. Choose general Sitemap. Enter the URL where your site is (ie: www.mysite.com/sitemap.xml) Click add web sitemap.
.. Sorted ..

you do NOT have to link to the sitemap.xml from your index page.
